Publix announced three additional cities have been selected as new-format GreenWise Market locations. They are Odessa, Florida; Nocatee (Ponte Vedra Beach), Florida; and Lexington, South Carolina.
GreenWise Market is a specialty, natural and organic store. In addition to a beverage bar featuring kombucha, locally-roasted coffee, wine, local beer and smoothies, the store offers local and unique products, indulgent gourmet treats, body care and bulk items.
Publix launched its first GreenWise Market last year to be competitive in a market increasingly dominated by specialty and natural foods stores. The new concept is also centered around prepared foods, with a large portion of the store dedicated to made-to-order and grab-and-go items.
“We’re creating a community gathering place where high-quality natural and organic products are the center of what we offer,” said Publix President Kevin Murphy in a news release.
“And we’re helping our customers support their healthy lifestyle with convenient in-house prepared meals and grab and go options made from organic and antibiotic-free ingredients.”
The company’s first GreenWise Market opened in Tallahassee, Florida, in October 2018. The other announced locations are Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; Lakeland, Florida; Boca Raton, Florida; Marietta, Georgia; Mountain Brook, Alabama; and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

The Mount Pleasant and Mountain Brook stores are expected to open this summer, and the Lakeland and Boca Raton stores are expected to open later in 2019.
The Jacksonville Daily Record reported that Nocatee Town Center will feature both the first GreenWise Market in Northeast Florida as well as the largest Publix in the region.
Construction of the new shopping center is scheduled to begin in the next few months and is expected to open in early 2020. The first phase of the new shopping center will comprise two buildings totaling 40,000 square feet of grocery, dining and retail spaces. GreenWise will lease 25,150 square feet, according to Skinner Bros. Realty.
Publix continues to look for additional GreenWise Market locations throughout its operating area.
