GreenWise Market, Publix’s healthy-living store format, launched its new location in Tallahassee, Florida.
The market opened near Florida State University and Florida A&M University at the southwest corner of Gaines Street and Railroad Avenue.
The first of five planned locations, GreenWise Market focuses on convenience and healthy living.
The store includes a beverage bar that will serve kombucha, local craft beer, wine, smoothies and locally-roasted coffee, as well as a large mezzanine where customers can eat and connect. The store also features a mixed media mural by Tallahassee artist Charity Myers.
“With our new-format GreenWise Market, we will offer today’s natural and specialty customer the new and interesting products they are looking for while setting the stage to provide a uniquely different shopping experience,” said Publix Senior Vice President of Retail Operations Kevin Murphy, according to a company press release. “The customers in this growing market are looking for a brand they trust, and we are confident GreenWise Market will be their specialty, natural and organic store of choice.”
The new market will also offer prepared foods featuring antibiotic-free meats, organic cheeses and vegan items. These include fresh, handcrafted sandwiches, acai bowls, gourmet pizzas, burritos, bowls, sushi and sausage made in-house.

GreenWise Market offers rewards
In addition to prepared items, customers can find local and organic fruits and vegetables, body care, natural vitamins and supplements, bulk items and local and unique products. The store also carries an expanded line of GreenWise seafood certified by the Marine Stewardship Council.
According to Publix, customers may also sign up for GreenWise Market Rewards to receive personalized offers and digital coupons. Rewards are currently only redeemable at the Tallahassee GreenWise Market. Future locations will accept the rewards as they open.
Aside from the location in Tallahassee, other planned locations for GreenWise stores include Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; Lakeland, Florida; Boca Raton, Florida; and Marietta, Georgia.
Publix had previously announced in 2017 that it would “reignite” GreenWise Market and drop Publix from the banner name. The food retailer also mentioned looking for more potential GreenWise locations across its operating area.
