What are the benefits of eating grapes?
For thousands of years, people have enjoyed the taste and beauty of grapes. And current scientific research shows that grapes are more than a beautiful fruit. They are also very beneficial to us.
More than a decade of research suggests that grapes help preserve the health of our hearts and also protect us from various age-related diseases or other diseases.
New studies are underway to determine the connection between grapes and the health of the heart, eyesight, brain, joints, cells, and the prevention of certain cancers.
Also, the grapes are not only healthy, but they are also exquisite: crispy, juicy, and sweet. The children love them. And they are practical, which makes them a fabulous snack. Eat them from the cluster, or use them in recipes of this type.
Grapes of all colors, red, green, and black, are natural sources of polyphenols, which would protect the health and functioning of our cells. The polyphenols of the grapes:
- They have antioxidant properties, which can protect us against free radicals that cause cell damage.
- They can influence the communication between the cells that are the basis of the critical biological processes.
Many studies suggest that the consumption of grapes and products made with grapes can contribute to heart health in many ways:

Fordham University research, funded by the California Mesa Grape Commission, suggests that grapes can reduce the risk of blindness related to age-related macular degeneration (AMD). In laboratory studies, the grapes offered significantly greater retinal protection than the known lutein and avoided blindness.
Mediterranean Grilled Chicken and Grape Skewers Recipe
These quick skewers can also serve as tickets. Makes 4 servings as a main course.
- ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, fresh and chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red chili flakes
- 1 tablespoon oregano, fresh and chopped
- 1 tablespoon rosemary, fresh and chopped
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 pound chicken breast, boneless and skinless
- 1 3/4 cups of California green grapes without seeds, taken from the stem and washed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
In a small bowl, combine olive oil, garlic, chili flakes, oregano, rosemary, and lemon zest. Beat with the marinade.
Cut the chicken into 3/4 inch cubes. Alternate chicken and grapes and insert them into 12 skewers.
Place the skewers in a reasonably large baking dish or pan. Pour marinade over each skewer. Mature between 4 and 24 hours.
Remove the skewers from the marinade and drain the excess oil—season with salt.
Roast until the chicken is cooked, approximately 3 to 5 minutes on each side.
Place in a serving dish and sprinkle with additional olive oil and lemon juice.
