Sweets & Snacks Expo 2026 Energizes Candy Industry in Las Vegas

The Sweets & Snacks Expo 2026 made history in Las Vegas, drawing 17,500 attendees and more than 1,000 exhibitors from 90 countries. The National Confectioners Association (NCA) hosted the industry’s premier event across 275,000 square feet of show floor. Bold flavors, breakthrough products, and high-value networking defined every session.

A Historic First for the Show

The Sweets & Snacks Expo 2026 took Las Vegas by storm for the very first time. Christopher Gindlesperger, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications for the NCA, called the move “groundbreaking.” The show had spent nearly 30 years building its community in Chicago before relocating to Indianapolis. Now, Las Vegas signals an ambitious new chapter.

NCA President and CEO John Downs doubled down on the significance of the shift. He said the move created a unique opportunity to showcase bold innovation and momentum driving the confectionery and snack industries. Las Vegas, he noted, matched the energy, color, and ambition the show deserved.

1,000 Exhibitors, One Roof

The show floor brought the entire confectionery ecosystem together under one roof. Manufacturers, buyers, suppliers, and distributors converged to share ideas and discover new products. In an interview with Abasto Media on the exhibition floor of the Sweets and Snacks show, Carly Schildhaus, Senior Director of Public Affairs and Communications for the NCA, described the experience as exceptional.

“Hundreds of thousands of types of products” filled the aisles, Schildhaus noted. Classic favorites sat alongside cutting-edge innovations. International brands and Latino companies also seized the platform to expand their U.S. market reach.

Bold, adventurous flavor profiles dominated the Sweets & Snacks Expo 2026 show floor. Sweet-and-spicy combinations drew heavy attention from attendees. Crunchy-and-chewy texture pairings also emerged as a standout trend. Brands clearly aimed to meet Gen Z and millennial consumers where their tastes lead them.

Nostalgia played an equally powerful role. Companies reimagined beloved classics with modern twists and unexpected upgrades. Seasonal and limited-time offerings generated significant buzz. Pickle-flavored products returned, but now with a spicy kick, illustrating how trend-stacking drives product development.

Innovation Awards Spotlight Breakthrough Brands

The Most Innovative New Product Awards recognized standout creativity across the show floor. Issei and Belle’s Gourmet Popcorn earned the inaugural Trailblazer Awards. CandyRific and The Hershey Company took home the first-ever Powerhouse Awards. These distinctions reinforced the Expo’s role as the industry’s top launchpad.

Suppliers also stepped into the spotlight through the Supplier Showcase. Packaging innovators, ingredient specialists, equipment providers, and service companies highlighted the solutions that will power the next wave of confectionery.

Education Sessions Deliver Real Industry Insight

Nearly 40 educational sessions were held throughout the event, covering trends, consumer insights, and emerging technologies. Two morning “Eye Opener” sessions tackled the state of treating and the state of snacking. A “Five by Five” Shark Tank-style pitch competition gave emerging brands five minutes to impress retailers live on stage.

Gindlesperger highlighted education as a key differentiator for the show. Innovation, networking, and learning all converge in one place, he said — and that combination proves difficult to replicate anywhere else.

National Candy Month Fuels Retail Momentum

The NCA used the Sweets & Snacks Expo to amplify its National Candy Month push, running throughout June. Gindlesperger noted that National Candy Month now activates some 60,000 to 70,000 retail locations with summer promotions. The initiative directly addresses the mid-year calendar gap between Easter and Halloween. Retailers increasingly use the month to drive velocity and fill seasonal revenue gaps.

The NCA also launched its “Sweet Land of Liberty” campaign, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States and the historical role confectionery played in American life.

Vegas Energy, Indy Roots

The NCA operates on a three-year rotation cycle. The show returns to Indianapolis in 2027 and 2028 before heading back to Las Vegas in 2029. The structure gives the Expo flexibility to grow while honoring its Midwest roots. Schildhaus confirmed the model reflects the show’s strategy to keep expanding its global reach and attendee base each cycle.

The Sweets & Snacks Expo 2026 proved that the candy industry thrives on bold moves — on the show floor and off it.
