A new grocery store just gave one of Brooklyn’s most diverse neighborhoods a reason to celebrate. Allegiance Retail Services opened its newest Foodtown Bay Ridge location, according to a company announcement.
The 9,000-square-foot supermarket opened on June 26, 2026, and occupies a site that once housed a Rite Aid, turning a familiar corner into a fresh community hub.
A Neighborhood Built on Diversity
Bay Ridge has long drawn residents from Arabic, Irish, Italian, Greek, Asian, Hispanic, and other backgrounds, Allegiance Retail Services said in its release. That mix of cultures shapes the store’s identity from the moment shoppers walk in.
Shelves stock authentic international foods and specialty items, including Halal products, alongside the staples every household needs. Fresh produce, meats, seafood, and bakery goods round out the offerings, giving residents a one-stop shop that mirrors the community outside its doors.
Value Meets Quality on Every Aisle
Beyond specialty items, the store leans on Allegiance’s Best Yet private label to keep grocery bills in check. The brand spans hundreds of grocery and household products, according to the company, and aims to deliver quality without the premium price tag. For families watching their budgets, that combination matters just as much as the international selection.
Location plays a role in the store’s appeal, too. Foodtown of Fourth Avenue sits at 6900 4th Avenue, right on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Bay Ridge Avenue and directly across from a subway stop. Commuters and residents alike can grab groceries without going far out of their way.

Convenience Extends Beyond the Aisles
That accessibility showed up in real time on opening day. Shoppers told Allegiance Retail Services they liked being able to stop in after work for fresh groceries, prepared meals, or grab-and-go items before heading home.
For those who prefer to skip the trip entirely, the store also offers online ordering through Foodtown’s proprietary On the Go! platform, plus additional third-party delivery options. The result is a shopping experience that meets customers wherever they are, whether that’s in the aisles or on their phones.

Leadership Sees a Model for Independent Grocers
Joseph Fantozzi, president and chief operating officer of Allegiance Retail Services, framed the opening as proof of what independent grocers can accomplish when they know their customers.
“We’re proud to welcome this new Foodtown to the Brooklyn community of Bay Ridge and applaud our independent retailer for creating a supermarket that truly reflects the neighborhood it serves,” Fantozzi said, according to the company’s announcement.
He pointed to the store’s range of Halal meats alongside authentic Asian and Hispanic foods as evidence of that responsiveness. “This is a neighborhood market where every resident can find the foods and flavors that are meaningful to their family,” Fantozzi added.
The new Foodtown Bay Ridge location joins a growing list of stores under the Allegiance Retail Services umbrella, which also supports brands including Freshtown, D’Agostino, Gristedes, Pathmark, Pathmark Daily, LaBella Marketplace, Brooklyn Harvest, Market Fresh, Big Deal Food Market, Green Way Markets and Shop n Bag. Allegiance provides these independent supermarkets with marketing, advertising, technological and merchandising support.
For now, the focus stays local. Residents gain a supermarket built around their own traditions, and commuters gain a quick stop between the subway and home. Together, those pieces turn a former drugstore site into what Allegiance Retail Services calls a true reflection of the neighborhood it serves.
