Cargill Meat Solutions, a U.S. beef distributor, expanded its recall to stores nationwide. The distributor has recalled more than 132,000 pounds of ground beef products that could be contaminated with E. coli.
According to the list released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), grocery stores that sold the recalled products include:
- Aldi (Stores in Arkansas, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wisconsin)
- FoodMaxx (Stores in California)
- Meijer (Nationwide)
- Park N Save (Stores in California)
- Safeway/Albertsons (Nationwide)
- Sam’s Club (Nationwide)
- Target (Nationwide)
- Vons (Stores in California)
The recall was issued on September 19 after an E. coli outbreak investigation identified 17 illnesses and one death on dates ranging from July 5 to July 25, 2018, according to a statement by the USDA’s Food Service and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The case-patients had all consumed products from various retail stores that were supplied by Cargill Meat Solutions.

The recalled products have an establishment number “EST. 86R” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The items were produced and packaged on June 21, 2018.
