Presidente Supermarket Expands with Seven New Stores, New Wholesale Concept

Presidente Supermarket, one of the largest Hispanic-owned grocery store chains in the U.S., will open seven new stores by the end of 2021, plus a new wholesale concept.

The new concept warehouse distributorship, Omax Plaza Wholesale, will be located in a 100,000 square-foot building on 24 acres in the central Florida city of Kissimmee.

“Presidente Supermarket is grateful that our focus on excellent customer service, high-quality products, and affordable prices has received such a positive response throughout the state. We are confident that Omax Plaza Wholesale dealers will receive the same support,” said Omar Rodriguez. For 30 years, he has led the Presidente Supermarket store chain.

This investment in the community will add jobs and stimulate economic development, the company said.

Presidente Supermarket offers great prices and value.

“During these difficult times, Presidente Supermarket has supported our customers and is ready to continue investing in our community through job creation and economic investment in their neighborhoods,” noted Rodriguez, president of the grocery chain.

According to the company, the seven supermarkets and Omax Plaza Wholesale will generate more than 500 jobs and represent millions of dollars in economic investment, often in low-income neighborhoods.

In January 2021, the chain’s expansion plan began with opening the President Supermarket in Orlando at 7653 S. Orange Blossom Trail.

A second store opened in May in Miami Gardens, at 4675 N.W. 199th Street.

The next Presidente Supermarket will open in early August in Orlando.

“We are honored to expand into the Central Florida area and include a new wholesale concept to bring even more value to our customers,” Rodriguez added.

Presidente Supermarket will open three stores in Orlando, two in West Palm Beach, one in Pompano, and one in Miami Gardens, in addition to the Omax Plaza Wholesale store.

Each of the stores will offer at least 60 new jobs to the community. To date, Presidente Supermarket employs nearly 2,600 Floridians.

“A combination of our great prices and value, with our excellent customer service, has helped us build a loyal customer base in South Florida, and we are confident we can do the same in Central Florida,” Rodriguez said.

Presidente Supermarket is a family-owned business founded 30 years ago by owner Omar Rodriguez to focus on underserved Hispanic neighborhoods.

The company’s philosophy has always been to provide Hispanic consumers with high-quality food and excellent customer service at an affordable price.

The company said its success is due to its focus on serving neighborhoods that large supermarket chains would otherwise overlook.

Currently, Presidente Supermarket has more than 30 supermarkets in Florida.
