Northgate González Market continues its steadfast commitment to supporting local communities through impactful initiatives this past month.
Last week, California’s leading Mexican-themed independent grocer joined forces with vendor partner Keurig DR Pepper to assemble more than 500 care packages to uplift the spirits of children and their families fighting cancer at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).
The dark green Northgate Market-branded backpacks included essential items like coloring books, crayons, apple juice, apple sauce, water bottles, puzzles, a blanket, and a handwritten note from one of the associates to the child.
The grocer also gave 250 gift cards, worth $25 each, to CHOC’s nursing staff in the Oncology Department to distribute to needy families.

Northgate González Market Celebrates a Family Day
Partnering with the San Diego Padres, Northgate Market donated tickets to over 260 underserved families and store associates to catch the September 20th game.
Working with a few nonprofits and schools, the grocer identified local families who would enjoy the game. The organizations included the Migrant Education Program of San Diego, Olive Crest, Perkins Elementary School, and Chula Vista Elementary Schools District.
“Thank you, Northgate Market, for providing Chula Vista Elementary School District students with the opportunity to participate in the Northgate Market Day at the Padres Game,” said Student Placement Manager Corina Mitchell. “Through this partnership, over 20 students and their families could watch their first Padre game, create lasting memories with their families, and have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Looking ahead, Northgate González Market invites the community to participate in the upcoming Día de los Muertos 5K run at Angel’s Stadium on October 12. The event aims to raise funds for the Anaheim Community Foundation, supporting its efforts to grant funds to local nonprofits.
