The Kroger Co. has launched a new eCommerce business unit to enhance its online shopping experience, the company announced. Yael Cosset, Kroger’s senior vice president and chief information officer, will oversee the division as executive vice president and chief digital officer, effective immediately.
Kroger Strengthens eCommerce Strategy
Kroger’s decision to create a dedicated eCommerce unit reflects its commitment to expanding online sales and improving digital operations. The move aligns various teams responsible for Kroger’s online customer experience, streamlining efforts to accelerate growth.
“Accelerating Kroger’s eCommerce growth is a top priority,” said Kroger’s chairman and CEO Ron Sargent. “As the architect of Kroger’s digital strategy, Yael will continue to make it easier for customers to shop for our fresh, affordable food.”
In 2024, Kroger’s eCommerce sales reached $13 billion, underscoring the growing demand for online grocery shopping. With this expansion, the company aims to improve digital services further, making shopping more seamless and efficient for customers.

Yael Cosset to Lead Digital Transformation
Cosset, a key player in Kroger’s technological evolution, will now extend his responsibilities beyond information technology and data management. His new role will focus on advancing Kroger’s digital commerce capabilities.
During his senior vice president and CIO tenure, Cosset has driven significant technological improvements. His efforts have simplified operations for Kroger employees, enabling them to focus more on customer service.
The company’s digital investments have enhanced the in-store and online shopping experience, offering customers convenience, personalized options, and competitive pricing.
Expanding Alternative Profit Ventures
In addition to leading eCommerce initiatives, Cosset will continue overseeing Kroger’s Alternative Profit businesses. These include Kroger’s data analytics and media subsidiary, 84.51˚, as well as Kroger Personal Finance and Kroger Precision Marketing.
Before assuming his CIO role, Cosset was the group vice president and chief digital officer, directing Kroger’s digital strategy. He also previously served as chief commercial officer and CIO of 84.51° since its launch in 2015.
With this leadership shift, Kroger reinforces its competitive online grocery market position. By investing in technology and eCommerce, the company aims to meet the growing consumer demand for digital shopping while maintaining its reputation for quality and affordability.
