Northgate Gonzalez Market celebrates International Women’s Day 2021 by recognizing 42 extraordinary women associates with the Doña Teresa Reynoso de Gonzalez Award and acknowledges the value that women bring to the company.
The Doña Teresa Reynoso de Gonzalez Award originated in 2020. The award is named after the founder’s wife, Doña Teresa. It shines a spotlight on women working at the company’s grocery stores and corporate office, who embody and exemplify Doña Teresa’s values of unity, honesty, and leadership, stated Norgate González Market.
“We are blessed to have these remarkable women working for our company,” said Miguel González, co-president of Northgate González Market. “My mother Doña Teresa was a major catalyst and influencer to our business success. She was known as the CEO, chief emotional officer of the family and business, placing hard work, family, and faith at the forefront of everything we do. It’s a mantra that continues to drive our company today.”
One of the honorees, Xochitl Marrota, is a Second Assistant at the grocery store in La Habra. She is a single mother of two children and active in her local Girls Scouts troop with her daughter.
“I am deeply honored to receive this award, knowing how much Doña Teresa meant to the González family,” said Marrota. “It has been a difficult year with the pandemic and raising my children. This award makes the hard work and struggle feel all worth it.”
Northgate González Market will host a virtual awards ceremony on Friday, March 12, from 11 am to 1 pm with all 42 winners and the company’s owners.
Also, an online webinar called “Woman to Woman: On Leadership, Personal & Financial Well-Being” on March 10 at 6:30 p.m. where phenomenal women leaders and Northgate González Market family members will be sharing their stories and inspiration with store associates and the public, according to the company.
Speakers to include Beatriz Acevedo, cultural strategist, and entrepreneur; Bricia López, chef and author; Paulina López, chef and content creator; Evelyn González, registered nutritionist and dietician; and Teresa Alvarado González, business owner.
The 42 winners of the Doña Teresa Reynoso de González Award were nominated by fellow associates at Northgate González Market. A team of external judges comprised of the third generation of González women selected the honorees.
The women who won this new and prestigious award were selected based on multiple criteria: how they embodied the values of Doña Teresa Reynoso de González; how they helped make their community and environment better; and the number of nominations received on their behalf.
