With the beginning of Lent, Cardenas Markets has new exclusive Cocina offerings available from the Hispanic supermarket chain for its customers as they observe the Lenten season.
According to the Hispanic grocer, this year, all Cocinas across Cardenas Markets footprint will now offer tortitas de camaron (shrimp patties), shrimp tamales, and chiles rellenos estilo gobernador (chile stuffed with shrimp) during the Lenten season.
In addition to these exclusive items, Lenten favorites such as ceviche; shrimp cocktails; torre de mariscos (seafood tower); fish, shrimp, and potato tacos; and capirotada (bread pudding) will also be available.
To further assist its customers in observing the Lenten season, all Cardenas Markets stores will also offer free Lent-inspired recipe books to all customers upon checkout.
“Our customers are at the center of everything we do,” said Cardenas Markets Chief Marketing Officer Adam Salgado. “We are honored to provide offerings to help them observe their time-honored traditions,” Salgado added.

In addition, for customer convenience, freshly prepared Cocina menu items are available for home delivery using the Ubereats platforms and the DoorDash app.
Lent is the liturgical season of “preparation for the celebration of Easter. In 2023, the Lenten season begins on February 22 (Ash Wednesday) and ends on April 6 (Holy Thursday) with the Mass of the Last Supper. Easter is on Sunday, April 9.
As part of the rituals during the Lenten season, Catholics practice abstinence from eating meat on Fridays.
