Vallarta Supermarkets Celebrates 40th Anniversary with Modesto Store Grand Opening

Vallarta Supermarkets, one of California’s largest Latino-owned grocery chains, is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the grand opening of a new store in Modesto on February 5, 2025. The store, located at 3900 Pelandale Ave #200, marks the company’s first grand opening of the year.

The event will feature a community ceremony starting at 8:00 a.m. and aims to strengthen Vallarta’s long-standing commitment to serving diverse communities with quality products and exceptional service.

Boosting the Local Economy with New Jobs

The new 45,099-square-foot store will create 227 jobs in the Modesto community, surpassing Vallarta’s recent Clovis store opening, which created 218 jobs.

“This year, we have plans to reach even more California residents and are excited to celebrate the first Grand Opening of the year with the Modesto community,” said Lizette Gomez, Vallarta’s Director of Marketing. “Opening this new location is more than just expanding our business—it’s about creating a space where the community can come together over fresh, quality ingredients and authentic flavors.”

The Modesto location offers numerous specialty departments designed to cater to diverse tastes and preferences for the costumers of Vallarta Supermarkets:

  • Guacamole Station: Fresh, hand-crafted guacamole and custom Pico De Gallo options.
  • Sushi Bar: Handcrafted sushi rolls made daily with premium ingredients.
  • La Isla: Fresh-pressed juices and Vallarta’s signature agua frescas.
  • La Fruteria: Juicy fruit bowls topped with Tajin, Chamoy, lime juice, and salt.
  • Cremería: House-made cremas and a variety of Latin American cheeses.
  • Panaderia: Freshly made Latin American baked goods and hand-decorated cakes.
  • Carniceria: Premium meat cuts and Vallarta’s trademark Carne Asada.

Vallarta Supermarkets will donate $7,500 to local charities and schools to demonstrate its commitment to Modesto. The first 300 customers attending the grand opening will receive reusable grocery bags filled with groceries.

Vallarta Supermarkets also offers the convenience of online grocery shopping through its Vallarta Go delivery service. Additionally, La Cocina items are available for delivery via DoorDash.
