The Cardenas Markets Foundation started Hispanic Heritage Month by hosting its 19th Annual Fundraising Golf Tournament on September 14 at the Pacific Palms Resort in the City of Industry.
The Cardenas Markets Foundation is a stand-alone, nonprofit organization noted for its charitable efforts that positively impact the lives of those in the areas Cardenas Markets serves.
Cardenas Markets is headquartered in Ontario, CA, and currently operates 57 stores under the Cardenas Markets banner and seven stores under the Los Altos Ranch Markets banner.
The Foundation’s Annual Fundraising Golf Tournament raised a record-breaking amount of over $915,000 primarily to support the scholarship program and its health, children’s well-being, and hunger relief initiatives.
The venue featured two championship courses where golfers enjoyed 18 holes of scramble golf tournament play in addition to longest-drive and closest-to-the-pin competitions. Tournament participants at the Annual Fundraising Golf Tournament also enjoyed live music, mariachis, games, and abundant food and beverage samples throughout their respective courses while raising funds for a great cause.

“This event truly captures, conveys and celebrates the spirit of Hispanic heritage,” said Adam Salgado, chief marketing officer for Heritage Grocers Group and president of the Cardenas Markets Foundation. “As we recognize, honor and perpetuate the legacy of giving back that our founders, Jesus and Luz Cardenas established over 40 years ago, we do so in a festive way, together with our generous vendor community, to raise much-needed funds that support and empower promising local students in their academic pursuits,” he added.
