Save A Lot, one of the country’s largest discount grocery chains, today announced Ahorra Mucho, an ongoing collaboration with Leevers Supermarkets, to develop new grocery formats and in-store offerings to reach a wide range of Hispanic shoppers nationwide.
Ahorra Mucho, which translates directly to Save A Lot, will emphasize the same value-driven and high-quality assortment shoppers expect from Save A Lot. This store concept is at 15200 E. Colfax Ave Unit C, in Aurora, Colorado. It spans 24,000 square feet with an assortment specifically designed for Hispanics who want to feel at home when stocking their pantry.
The store will operate as a test-and-learn facility, building insights to facilitate longer-term strategies for serving Hispanic customers. Like other Leevers Supermarket locations, the Ahorra Mucho store will be 100% employee-owned.
“With the Hispanic population in the United States rapidly growing and wielding considerable buying power, it is essential to understand their unique culinary traditions and preferences. Ahorra Mucho provides us with a great platform to align with Hispanic consumers’ culinary preferences and needs,” said Jorge Gonzalez, Director of Ahorra Mucho and a long-time member of the Leevers Supermarkets team, through a press release.
At Ahorra Mucho, the primary language for all products and services will be Spanish. English will be present because we are in the United States.

New Store and Products
Innovations in this concept include fresh produce, the largest butcher shop in Colorado, an artisanal bakery, and a tortilla factory.
“We have the fruits and vegetables they are asking for because there is a greater demand for roots, tropical products, and some herbs that we were unaware of being used in Latino culinary art. So we are coming to know something new that we have been doing for many years, but now we are excited to say we will grow this concept,” said González, a native of Mexico.
Finding fresh products for cooking is essential for Latinos, so Ahorra Mucho promises a wide variety of colors and flavors, just like the Hispanic population.
“We recently debuted Ahorra Mucho, a new specialty store and innovation center, that features a Hispanic-influenced assortment to test products and services to strengthen shopper loyalty as we look ahead to 2025,” said Bill Mayo, Chief Operating Officer at Save A Lot to Abasto Media.
“Aurora, Colorado is the ideal launchpad for this offering as we have a vibrant and active Hispanic community in the area,” shares Art Perez, District Manager. “Leevers Supermarkets has long embraced the Hispanic community, tailoring signage and products. Ahorra Mucho is the next step in exploring how we can best meet our shoppers’ needs.”
