Now Marco Giudici is in charge of Lidl US for the time being. Marco Giudici has a lot of experience working in stores. He used to be the Chief Customer Officer, at Lidl US.
In the fast-paced world of discount retail, leadership changes are often the first sign of a shifting strategy.

Giudici is very familiar with the pressure of the discount wars. Before he came to the United States he was the CEO of Lidl Romania. He did a job there and helped Lidl Romania grow a lot. Now that he is back Lidl is going back, to what it does using people who already work for the company and have experience working in other countries to make sure things run smoothly at home. A Turning Point for the Brand

Rampoldt’s departure comes at an important time. He was in charge for two years. He started a new plan to get back, to the basics of the company. This plan had a lot of things in it including:
- Assortment Optimization: Trimming store SKUs from 4,500 to roughly 3,250 to focus on high-velocity private labels.
- Operational Excellence: Implementing electronic shelf labeling and refining the “fresh-forward” layout.
- Market Density: Shifting focus from rapid geographical expansion to winning “store by store” in the East Coast markets.
Giudici’s leadership signals a period of ruthless efficiency. Lidl is currently locked in a fierce battle with Aldi, which has set a goal of 3,200 U.S. stores by 2028. To compete, Lidl is expected to tighten further its supply chain and demand even greater predictability from its partners.
