Goya Coconut Water Campaign Turns Hydration into Strategy

In the middle of a Texas summer, hydration stops being a wellness talking point and becomes a daily necessity. Goya Foods is betting shoppers will reach for Goya coconut water instead of soda or a sweetened sports drink, and the company is building an entire brand experience around that bet.

That experience is Casa Coco: House of Hydration.

The campaign launched Monday, August 10, at the Frenchie Hotel in Round Top, Texas, according to a press release from Goya Foods.

The invitation-only event put Goya coconut water at the center of an active-lifestyle setting. Pickleball, poolside activities, tastings, and smoothie and mocktail inspiration filled the property, with influencers and content creators generating the campaign’s first wave of content.

A Private Launch with a Public Goal

Casa Coco opened its doors to a curated group of influencers, content creators, and media representatives.

“Casa Coco was created to bring the Goya Coconut Water experience to life in a way that feels refreshing, social, and memorable,” Elizabet Heredia, Goya’s category manager, said in the release.

Miguel Fernández, the company’s trade marketing manager, framed the event as a first step rather than the finish line.

“We want consumers to discover new ways to make Goya Coconut Water part of their active lifestyles and everyday routines,” he said. “This private launch will introduce the campaign through content creators and influencers before Casa Coco expands to public events and supermarket activations.”

The Goya Coconut Water Play for Grocers

For grocers, the relevant part comes next.

Coconut water has moved from specialty-store curiosity to mainstream grocery item. Supermarkets remain its dominant sales channel, and Goya is taking Casa Coco directly to retail partners.

Juan Cáceres, Goya’s sales manager, tied the campaign to specific store partnerships.

“We are also bringing the Goya Casa Coco program to our strategic retail partners, including H-E-B, Walmart, Fiesta and others, to continue supporting the coconut water category and creating meaningful connections with shoppers,” he said in the release.

Kroger rounds out the list of retail partners named in Goya’s announcement.

Public events, in-store activations, recipes and giveaways will carry the campaign into those stores through the rest of the summer, per the release.

Retailers who time secondary displays to that public phase stand to benefit from awareness Goya is already paying to build.

A Product Built for Summer Hydration

Made with young coconuts, Goya coconut water naturally contains electrolytes such as potassium.

The product lands squarely in the summer hydration occasion that Casa Coco is designed to own. Goya’s release also describes it as fat-free, gluten-free and free of artificial colors.

Evelio Fernández, vice president of Goya Foods of Texas, tied the product to a broader regional strategy.

“Goya remains committed to expanding our presence in the general market while strengthening our connection with consumers across the South-Central region,” he said in the release.

He added that Goya’s marketing team built an integrated program connecting content, live experiences and retail activations to “bring the benefits of natural hydration to life in a fresh and innovative way.”

Event Details and What Comes Next

Goya’s release lists the Casa Coco launch as a private, invitation-only event held at 1 p.m. Central time on August 10 at the Frenchie Hotel.

Media opportunities included interviews, event photography, lifestyle content, product tastings and experiential coverage, the release said.

From here, the campaign moves into its public phase.

Consumers can expect to see Goya coconut water featured at H-E-B, Walmart, Kroger, Fiesta and other retailers through recipes, giveaways and digital content in the weeks ahead.

Founded in 1936, Goya Foods remains the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the United States, according to the release.

The Casa Coco campaign marks one of its most visible pushes yet to turn coconut water from a niche item into an everyday grocery staple.
