The salt that comes from the Mexican subsoil seeks to conquer palates across the United States. That’s the goal of Sales del Istmo (SISA), a company belonging to Grupo Cydsa (one of the most important in Mexico) that has had a presence in the United States for over 11 years.
This company is responsible for such distinguished products as La Fina salt. This staple began in the 1960s in Mexico and is gaining ground in homes, retail shelves, and food service kitchens across the United States.
The saltworks of Sales del Istmo (SISA), located in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, is the largest evaporated salt facility in the Americas. The salt is extracted from the subsoil through water wells, evaporation, and cooling. The result is a salt with the highest flavor, hygiene, and quality standards.
SISA’s Presence
La Fina salt is present in various states across the United States, including Florida, Texas, California, Illinois, North Carolina, Georgia, and Arizona, as well as in the Northeast (Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virgin Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia).
“We’ve just entered a national food service chain. The idea is to grow in this distribution channel. For the coming year, we want to expand our territorial coverage nationwide,” Francisco Granell of SISAMEX in the United States told Abasto Media in an interview.
La Fina salt comes in various presentations, such as a 26-ounce container and 25 and 50-pound bags.
