Sedano’s Holiday Giving Campaign Launches Across Florida

Sedano’s holiday giving campaign returns this year with a stronger focus on feeding families and strengthening community ties across Florida.

The beloved Hispanic grocer began its 2025 Season of Giving with a clear goal: support hundreds of households in South and Central Florida and inspire generosity during the holidays.

Grocer Expands Support for Florida Families

Sedano’s plans to assist more than 700 families this season. The Hispanic supermarket chain will provide each household with a turkey and a curated bag of shelf-stable foods. The effort will help over 400 families in South Florida and 300 families in Central Florida.

As the need for food assistance grows, Sedano’s holiday giving campaign reinforces the company’s long-standing commitment to its neighborhoods.

Furthermore, Sedano’s has strengthened its reach by involving a wide roster of trusted partners. The grocery company will coordinate with schools, churches, nonprofits, and local government programs to identify families who need the most help.

Local Partnerships Drive the Sedano’s Holiday Giving Campaign

In South Florida, the grocer will work with more than a dozen organizations, including Robert Russa Moton Elementary School, Miami Palmetto Senior High, Missionaries of Charity, Knights of Columbus, and the Hispanic Police Officers Association. Additional partners include multiple Miami-Dade County low-income housing programs, St. John and St. Michael food pantries, LABA Foundation, John Bell Foundation, M.A. Milam School, Everglades Preparatory School, District 6 Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and the Miami Marlins food distribution program.

Meanwhile, in Central Florida, Sedano’s will collaborate with the Orlando Sheriff’s Office and the Orlando Police Department. Both agencies will select local families to receive holiday meal donations, ensuring efficient and respectful outreach.

Company Leader Emphasizes Community Roots

Javier Herrán, chief marketing officer of Sedano’s Supermarkets, underscored the meaning behind Sedano’s holiday giving campaign. “This season, we’re grateful to join forces with trusted partners across South Florida and Orlando to help families in need,” Herrán said. “Giving back has always been part of our story and our way of saying thank you to this incredible community.”

His remarks reflect the company’s heritage. Founded in 1962 by the Herrán and Guerra families, Sedano’s has grown into one of the nation’s top independent grocery chains.

The supermarket chain now operates 32 stores and employs more than 3,000 workers across Miami-Dade, Broward, Orange, and Osceola counties.

Shoppers Play a Key Role

Sedano’s also invites customers to join the effort. Through Dec. 31, shoppers can buy $10 or $20 ready-made bags filled with essential groceries. Each Sedano’s location has been paired with a nearby food pantry, which ensures donations remain in the same neighborhood.

Additionally, Sedano’s will take part in CAMACOL’s Annual Holiday Food Basket Drive on Dec. 10. The event will help feed 750 families and continues a tradition the company has supported for more than 25 years.

Holiday Events Strengthen Community Spirit

The Sedano’s holiday giving campaign will extend beyond food support. Throughout December, the company will participate in significant community celebrations, including the Hialeah Snow Blast, the City of Miami Tree Lighting, the City of Westchester Tree Lighting, and a Senior Christmas Luncheon with Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez.

Sedano’s will also surprise select customers at checkout with $100 gift cards to ease holiday expenses.

As the season unfolds, Sedano’s holiday giving campaign continues to honor a simple idea: strong communities grow when people look after each other.
