Northgate González Market celebrated the grand reopening of its newly redesigned La Puente location on Wednesday. The store delights residents with enhanced offerings and modern conveniences while honoring Mexican food traditions.
Excited customers lined up early at 831 N. Hacienda Blvd., eager to explore fresh and prepared Mexican foods and experience the revamped store layout designed for greater convenience.
“We are proud to mark this special milestone,” said Miguel González, co-president of Northgate González Market. “Our redesign celebrates tradition, culture, and family while providing a modern shopping experience with high-quality service.”
Local Officials Join Ribbon-Cutting Celebration
La Puente Mayor Valerie Muñoz, Mayor Pro Tem Charlie Klinakis, and other community leaders joined company officials for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The first 300 customers received complimentary “I Love La Puente” canvas bags filled with groceries, underscoring the company’s commitment to the local community.

The 37,425-square-foot store features vibrant colors and spacious aisles reminiscent of a traditional mercado in Mexico. Northgate González Market’s redesign focuses on expanded food offerings and a more convenient shopping experience.

- Hot and Cold Food Bars: Tamales, fresh soups, stews, and a self-serve bar for hot meals.
- Tamalería: Fresh, ready-to-eat, hand-made tamales daily.
- El Mercadito: Artisan pottery, dishes, and cookware selections.
- Expanded Panadería: Fresh breads, cakes, cookies, and conchas made daily.
- Tortillería: Fresh tortillas and masa made in-house daily from stone-ground corn, including nutrient-rich blue corn tortillas sourced from Mexico.
- Aguas Frescas: Over eight fresh fruit-based varieties made daily.
- Chiles and Spices: More than 20 authentic Mexican spice varieties.
- Dulcería and Piñata Section: Expanded to celebrate traditional Mexican treats.
Northgate González Market will continue offering signature items, such as made-from-scratch bolillo rolls, freshly prepared carnitas, and fire-roasted split chicken.

Founded in 1980, Northgate González Market has grown into a family-owned Hispanic supermarket chain with 44 stores across Southern California, including Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Diego counties.
