Heritage Grocers Group Stores to Award $345,000 in Scholarships

Heritage Grocers Group’s portfolio of companies, which includes Cardenas Markets, El Rancho Supermercado, and Tony’s Fresh Market, announced the launch of its scholarship programs through their respective philanthropic arms.

Every store under the Heritage Grocers Group banner will award one (1) – $3,000 scholarship to a local student who demonstrates academic excellence, financial need, leadership attributes, and a commitment to serving their local community.

In total, $345,000 in scholarship funds from 115 stores will be awarded for the 2024-2025 academic year.

“Heritage’s dedication to community service is reflected through the philanthropic efforts of the Cardenas Markets Foundation, Tony’s Charitable Foundation, and El Rancho Supermercado’s newly established non-profit Manos y Corazones Unidos,” said Adam Salgado, Chief Marketing Officer for Heritage Grocers Group.

“Through these combined efforts, we are helping students in the areas where Heritage operates advance their educational goals and achieve their professional aspirations,” he added.

The deadline to apply is March 23, 2024. Additionally, all applicants must provide the program key HeritageGrocers to complete the application process.

In 2023, the Cardenas Markets Foundation raised $192,000 for its scholarship program to support students from the areas where Cardenas Markets supermarkets operate.

As a result, the foundation awarded 64 scholarships for $3,000 each. The scholarship recipients were chosen from 401 applications that were received. The selection process considered their academic qualifications, financial need, leadership attributes, and commitment to serving their communities.

Headquartered in Ontario, California, Heritage Grocers Group operates in six states: California, Texas, Nevada, Arizona, Kansas, and Illinois, with a total of 58 stores under the Cardenas Markets banner, 29 stores under the El Rancho Supermercado banner; 21 stores under the Tony’s Fresh Market banner; and seven stores under the Los Altos Ranch Market banner.
