The Cardenas Markets Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Cardenas Markets, a Heritage Grocers Group (HGG) banner, proudly announced that nearly $900,000 was
raised during its 22nd Annual Golf Tournament, held on September 21, 2026, at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club.
The funds will support scholarships, hunger relief, disaster relief, and community well-being initiatives.
The event brought together vendor partners, members of the Heritage Grocers Group Team, and community advocates for a day dedicated to giving back and creating opportunities for future generations.

“The true measure of this event’s success is not the funds raised alone, but the lasting impact those resources will have on individuals, families, and communities,” said Adam Salgado, President of the Cardenas Markets Foundation and Chief Experience Officer of Heritage Grocers Group. “Every scholarship awarded, every family supported, and every opportunity created begins with people who believe in giving back. We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity of our vendor partners, sponsors, and Team Members who make that impact possible.”

As part of the Foundation’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, attendees heard from decorated U.S. Army veteran Ramon Padilla, whose journey reflects the resilience, perseverance, and spirit of service the Foundation seeks to honor. Born in Tijuana, Mexico, Padilla served in Korea, Iraq, and Afghanistan before overcoming life-changing combat injuries and dedicating himself to supporting fellow veterans and his community. In recognition of his continued commitment to service, the Cardenas Markets Foundation presented a $1,000 donation to the Salute Military Golf Association on his behalf.
The proceeds from the tournament will support the Cardenas Markets Foundation’s ongoing mission to expand access to education through scholarships while addressing critical community needs through hunger relief, disaster response, and health and wellness initiatives. For more than two decades, the Foundation has helped create brighter futures for students, families, and communities through strategic investments that drive meaningful and lasting impact.
